Active trader · builds his own tools

I trade the markets — and build the tools I trade with.

I’m the Laidback Trader. An active, self-directed trader across crypto, gold, indices and forex — and I code my own software to stay sharp: a full trading journal and a live market scanner.

About me

A trader who builds his own edge.

Trading is my craft — calm, patient and data-driven. But I’m also a builder: instead of settling for off-the-shelf tools, I code the software I need myself. Everything you see here is made by me and used in my own trading, every single day.

Two tools power my routine: a trading journal that turns every trade into data I can learn from, and a live market scanner that keeps an eye on the whole market while I stay laid back.

Tool #1 · Built by me

The Laidback Trader Journal.

My own trading journal and calendar — it logs every trade, visualises my edge and keeps me honest. Live at laidbacktrader.com.

Trading calendar

Daily P&L at a glance across the month — monthly & weekly views — with quick notes on every setup.

Streak tracking

Current streak, best winning and worst losing runs — so I know when I’m hot and when to cool down.

Equity curve & analytics

Total return, win rate, average R, profit factor and max drawdown — clarity instead of guesswork.

Daily P&L chart

A clean bar chart of every trading day, so green and red days jump out immediately.

Long vs short breakdown

Where my edge really is — separate performance for long and short trades, side by side.

Per-symbol stats

Profit and win rate by instrument — from SOLUSD to XAUUSD — so I focus on my best markets.

AI coach

Objective feedback on my trades and habits, so I can spot leaks and double down on what works.

Tool #2 · Built by me

My live market scanner.

A real-time scanner I built as a MetaTrader Expert Advisor (MQL). It watches forex, indices, crypto and commodities at once — right on my chart — so I can stay laid back and still catch every move.

Currency strength meter — ranks all 8 majors live from 18 forex pairs.
Top movers & sectors — instantly see what’s running and what’s lagging.
Signals per asset class — forex, indices, crypto & commodities with BUY / SELL / NEUTRAL.
Personal watchlist & a fluid layout that auto-adjusts to the chart.
Tool #3 · Built by me

My own trading algo. In development

On top of trading by hand, I run my own trading algorithm. It’s never really “finished” — I keep refining and rebuilding it continuously to squeeze out the best possible results.

Rules-based automation — my edge, coded into a system that executes without emotion.
Continuously under construction — always testing, tuning and improving the logic.
Data-driven refinement — journal & scanner insights feed straight back into the algo.
Built for the long run — optimised for consistency and the best results over time.
The laid-back approach

Consistency beats intensity.

Great trading isn’t about staring at charts all day. It’s about a clear process, honest records and the patience to let your edge play out. That’s exactly why I built my own tools — to keep that process simple and calm.

Log first, judge later
Record every trade objectively before emotions take over.
Let the tools do the watching
My scanner tracks the market so I don’t have to sit glued to the screen.
Trust the numbers
Let the stats — not the mood — guide the next decision.
Stay calm, stay in the game
Protect your capital and your peace of mind for the long run.
